Frank Sinatra reportedly was considered for a Bond theme, but that never transpired. His daughter Nancy, however, did get to sing a title song for the film franchise. It has been suggested that the same tune was first offered to Ol' Blue Eyes.
The younger Sinatra had reached #1 on both sides of the Atlantic in 1965 with “These Boots Are Made For Walkin’”. In 1967, father and daughter had scored a UK and American chart topping duet with “Somethin’ Stupid”.
Her image and chart success made the singer a good choice for “You Only Live Twice”. The title song was written by John Barry and Leslie Bricusse. Nancy Sinatra’s producer, songwriter and frequent duet partner Lee Hazlewood produced the Bond track. The single peaked at #11 on the British chart.
