The similarity to Chuck Jackson's 1962 song "I Keep Forgettin'" earned a songwriting credit for that song's composers Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. Michael McDonald's hit song was later sampled on Warren G featuring Nate Dogg's 1994 hit "Regulate".
