Pierce Brosnan’s debut as 007 was in the film ‘GoldenEye’. This would also be the first movie in the franchise produced by Barbara Broccoli. The film’s title refers to Ian Fleming’s residence in Jamaica, where the Bond adventures were written.
“GoldenEye” as a song was a return to the traditional Bond film themes, particularly those recorded by Shirley Bassey. Tina Turner was a fitting addition to the exclusive list of iconic singers.
The song was written by Bono and The Edge from the rock group U2. They also served as executive producers. “GoldenEye” was mixed and produced by Nellee Hooper. The single reached #10 in Britain and peaked at #3 in Europe.
