#1130 EVIL WOMAN Electric Light Orchestra
The Electric Light Orchestra broke through with one of the 70s' classic albums, 'A New World Record'. But it was with "Evil Woman" that the group evolved the new sound for ELO. Leaving behind slower songs like its predecessors "Strange Magic" and "Can't Get it Out of my Head", the band's lead singer Jeff Lynne crafted a song that combined a string section with pop hooks and a rock style in a new way. It was featured on the group's 'Face the Music' album, issued in 1975. Released as a single the following year, it ushered in the halcyon period for this group as major hit songs from mega-selling albums followed.
