#1166 WHAT'S IN A KISS? Gilbert O'Sullivan
Ireland's Gilbert O'Sullivan released this understated ballad in 1980 as a single lifted from his 'Off Centre' album. He composed the song himself. With a style that was both influenced by the Beatles and British music hall, he has seemingly been dismissed as cheesy and uncool; but that is unfair. His clever song structure and lyrical wit is today a lost art. On this cut, simplicity is key.
