EUROVISION 2016
A RANKING OF THIS YEAR’S 43 SONGS
Each day, a song will be previewed here from
the 43 entries locked in for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in
Stockholm. The songs will be added in
order of preference, from the least promising climbing upwards to the pick of
the bunch.
NOTE: Songs have been ranked in terms of audio
track. Choreography and overall presentation during the Semi- Finals may
influence a different perspective once the ESC begins in May.
1 RUSSIA
YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE Sergey Lazarev

Tipped as the favourite this year is Russia's entry "You Are The Only One". The upbeat dance song stands miles above the other entries. Singer, actor & TV host Sergey Lazarev's good looks won't hurt his chances, but politics may mar its overall result. Countries such as Georgia and Ukraine are unlikely to support Russia at voting time. Other countries may also use Eurovision to protest against Vladimir Putin. The song is definitely going to qualify during Semi Final 1. Eurovision ought to be about the song and not politics.

2 ICELAND
HEAR THEM CALLING Greta Salome
Iceland has yet to win at Eurovision. Could this be its year? "Hear Them Calling" draws from the last 3 Scandinavian winning songs: it sounds similar to "Only Teardrops" the winning Danish entry from 2013; her delivery is Loreen in style and the backdrop is reminiscent of "Heroes". This will be her 2nd ESC attempt; her 1st being with Jonsi in 2012.
