RAPPER'S DELIGHT
Sugarhill Gang [1979]
At the time this single was issued, "Rapper's Delight" was classified as a disco track. Historically, it is the first rap hit song. It dented the Top 40 in the USA, peaked at #3 and charted in many European countries. For many at that time, this was the single that introduced audiences to the burgeoning new genre. The track was built around a sample of Chic's "Good Times".
