A countdown of the 200 songs possessing the best lyrics of all-time. A playlist on spotify will be added at the end of the week.
PLEASE DON’T ASK ME
“…You could easily make me happy,
that I know.
But I’ll try my best
to never tell you so.
I will sing to you my love songs
& I’ll keep my secret
right down to the end...”
Australian entertainer John Farnham recorded the heart-wrenching ballad "Please Don't Ask Me" for his 1980 album 'Uncovered'. The moving song was penned by Graham Goble, a principal songwriter in the Australian group Little River Band.
"Please Don't Ask Me" involves a man who finds himself in love with someone he cannot have. This is because he is already in a relationship with another woman, as explained in the line "my heart's not free". He continues wrestling with his feelings for the other woman in the remaining verses.
As new songs are covered on this blog, a definitive version will be added to a spotify playlist. Find it and the other Caffé Latté playlists at:
