The aptly-titled "The End" was one of the final recordings by The Beatles on their last studio LP 'Abbey Road'. Although it was released in 1969 and prior to 'Let It Be', the former was completed after that disc.
Paul McCartney contributed the lyrics, although the song (as was their custom) is credited to both him and John Lennon. The line "... and in the end, the love you take, is equal to the love you make" adds a philosophical edge to the track.
