THE NETHERLANDS – 1957

Eurovision’s second year saw changes. Each country  would be represented by just one song. Juries could not vote for their own entry. The Dutch song attracted the highest score from any jury in 1957: 7 courtesy of the Swiss jurors. Corry Brokken had represented The Netherlands in the inaugural contest the previous year. Lys Assia, who had won in 1956, also returned, this time finishing in 8th place. The first songs to triumph at Eurovision are boring compared to the higher standard of songs today.
