Live established a new musical direction in the American group's evolution with sophomore album 'Throwing Copper'. "I Alone" was its second single. Nirvana, R.E.M. and Pearl Jam were dominating alternative indie/ rock at the time, yet this single (which sonically sits comfortably alongside these bands) failed to crack the Top 40.
