The Beatles

Relations between the Fab Four had soured drastically when sessions began on what was planned as a new album to be entitled 'Get Back'. George Harrison recruited Billy Preston into the recording studio to augment the music and to reduce the negativity when The Beatles worked together. For this, the American R&B performer was given a credit on the title track. Despite efforts such as this, most of the fruits of the sessions remained in the vault. The 'Get Back' project was shelved. 'Abbey Road', planned as the group's swansong, was released instead. The single "Get Back" followed. It topped the charts in America, Britain, Europe, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. This version was produced by George Martin, The Beatles' producer throughout its catalogue up to that point. Spector stepped in and produced the version of the song on what developed into the 'Let It Be' album. The LP consisted of tracks from the earlier aborted sessions.
