PHIL SPECTOR- Top 25. This post: #1. Concludes tomorrow.

He certainly was not a pleasant person, treating some of the people in his life with cruelty, but there’s no denying the impact of Phil Spector on popular culture. First as a member of The Teddy Bears, then creating the thrilling Wall Of Sound and his skill as a songwriter will ensure his influence on music will remain timeless.

John Lennon

Here are 25 examples of his best work:

After completing the ‘Let it Be’ album project for the Beatles, Spector was recruited for George Harrison’s solo debut album and John Lennon’s first album after the demise of the band. ‘Imagine’ was his second solo studio LP. Spector was again at the helm, co-producing with Lennon and Yoko Ono. The title track remains a defining moment in popular culture. Lennon’s lyrics were inspired by a book of poetry entitled ‘Grapefruit’ by Ono. The former Beatle eclipses his ground-breaking work in that group with this enduring vision of how the planet and humankind could be. “Imagine” still touches, inspires and encourages us to this day.
