LET IT BE

The Beatles

Vinyl Album - The Beatles - Let It Be - Apple - USA

Phil Spector did not work with The Beatles as a group the way George Martin had previously. For the most part, the former's task was restricted to mixing and adding overdubs to what would eventually see the light of day as the 'Let It Be' album. After the project was aborted, 'Abbey Road' was issued. Spector's work on 'Let It Be' meant that the LP finally was ready for release in 1970. As a result, it served as the group's last studio album. Martin had produced the single version of the title track. Spector was at the helm for the track as heard on the parent LP. The song was essentially Paul McCartney's. In the UK, the ballad peaked at #2. Almost everywhere else, it occupied the #1 position.
