Trivia:

Paul Williams came up with the lyrics. Roger Nichols composed the music. Once completed, the songwriters pitched "Rainy Days And Mondays" to The Fifth Dimension. The group's producer Bones Howe rejected the composition. Siblings Richard and Karen heard a demo of the ballad and decided to record it. The song became another chart smash for The Carpenters.
