Elliot Lurie was the lead singer/ guitarist within the American group Looking Glass. He had a sweetheart back in high school named Randy and she came to ,mind while he was creating the band's biggest hit. Brandy fit his song better, so the names were switched. While "Brandy (You're A Fine Girl" stalled at #51 in Britain, it topped the US Pop Chart.
