CAFFE` LATTE`
TOP 1200 CHOICE TRACKS

#905-901 20 -a -day special fast track...

#905 HAVEN'T STOPPED DANCING YET Gonzalez
Gonzalez was a British funk/ disco group with an ever-changing line-up. They enjoyed a brief moment of fame in 1978-9 when their single "Haven't Stopped Dancing Yet" enjoyed chart action around the world. Sadly, they were to be a 1-hit wonder act. Gloria Jones wrote their sole hit. She had previously enjoyed success recording the original version of "Tainted Love". The group broke up in 1986.

#904 MONEY (THAT'S WHAT I WANT) Barrett Strong
It's appropriate that Barrett Strong's recording of "Money" gave co-writer Berry Gordy the funds he needed to form his renowned Motown label. Released in 1960, this hit song was penned with Janie Bradford. While Strong's chart success was restricted to just this one hit, the Motown artist was to continue playing a key role at the label. As a songwriter, he provided many classic cuts for Gordy's record company, including: The Temptations' "Papa was A Rolling Stone", Marvin Gaye's "Too Busy Thinking About My Baby" and "War" by Edwin Starr.

#903 BUTTERCUP Carl Anderson
Carl Anderson worked with Stevie Wonder at Motown. In 1982, he recorded a cover of the legendary performer's song "Buttercup". The version I prefer is the mix by DJ Spinna & Bobbito, on their 'The Wonder of Stevie' compilation, released in 2003.

#902 GOT MY MIND SET ON YOU George Harrison
George Harrison dusted off an obscure song originally recorded by James Ray in 1962 to score one of the biggest hits of his solo career in late 1987. "Got My Mind Set On You" was written by Rudy Clark. Harrison made some alterations and co-produced the recording with Jeff Lynne (from ELO). The latter also sings backup vocals on the worldwide chart-topping single. The cut was also featured on the former Beatle's 'Cloud Nine' LP.

#901 TURN TO STONE Electric Light Orchestra
ELO's 'Out of the Blue' LP begins with the masterly produced "Turn to Stone". Lead singer Jeff Lynne wrote and produced the track for one of the best selling albums of 1977. We find a man who cannot contemplate moving on after his partner has left him. Lynne and the other members of the Electric Light Orchestra throw so much into the song: there's synthesizer, guitar, drums, strings and harmonies. For this reason, despite its sad subject matter, "Turn to Stone" rocks (pun intended!).
