CAFFE` LATTE` TOP 2000 TRACKS

#113 LOVE IS A BATTLEFIELD Pat Benatar
Pat Benatar had already been charting consistently with a string of hits that began in 1979 with "Heartbreaker", but "Love is a Battlefield" was the artist at her peak. The song was penned by Mike Chapman with Holly Knight. The former had written and / or produced hits for an array of acts that included The Sweet, Suzi Quatro, Blondie, The Knack, Exile and Toni Basil. The latter has helped create hits for the likes of Tina Turner, Heart, Aerosmith and Scandal.
"... Battlefield" was produced by Neil Geraldo and Peter Coleman. Benatar was releasing an album entitled "Live From Earth' at the time of the song's release. "...Battlefield" was included on the LP. Both were issued in 1983.
The single hit the world charts late that year and, by 1984, had reached #1 in Australia and the Netherlands. It reached the Top 10 in Canada, the USA and New Zealand. In Britain, the disc peaked in the Top 20. Knight would provide Benatar with another hit song in 1985, when "Invincible" (co-written with Simon Climie) charted. Chapman produced the recording.

This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
A new song from the Top 200 is added each day, while another 2 are also included from positions 1501-2000 daily. Check back here every 12 hours for an update of the 2000.
