CAFFE` LATTE` TOP 2000 TRACKS

#114 UNDER PRESSURE Queen & David Bowie
The magical collaboration between Queen and David Bowie spawned the timeless track "Under Pressure", recorded in September 1981. Both acts were in Montreux, Switzerland at the same time and decided to jam together
Queen had an unfinished track entitled "Feel Like" that was the song's foundation. Freddie Mercury wrote most of what was to become "Under Pressure", but contributions came from the other members and Bowie. The final essential ingredient was John Deacon's unforgettable bassline. Bowie suggested the hand claps and clicks that are another key component of the song's 'cool factor'.  Queen and Bowie co-produced the track. Mack engineered and mixed the duet between the 2 acts.
From all reports, the recording session was difficult, with egos interfering in the creative process. Despite strained relations, the end result is an outstanding song. Released as a single in October 1981, "Under Pressure" was a major hit. By November, it had reached #1 in the UK. It was soon also atop the Argentinian and Dutch charts. It reached the Top 10 in parts of Europe, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and South Africa. In the US, the disc peaked at #29.
In 1999, a remix of "Under Pressure" was released, referred to as the 'Rah Mix'. November 2014 will see a new compilation album with 3 previously unreleased tracks. This will include another Queen collaboration with a superstar- Michael Jackson -on "There Must Be More To Life Than This".

This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
A new song from the Top 200 is added each day, while another 2 are also included from positions 1501-2000 daily. Check back here every 12 hours for an update of the 2000.
