THE CONCERT IN CENTRAL PARK:
SIMON & GARFUNKEL

 [1982]
If, like me, you compile solo tracks from groups that have split and imagine what the songs would have sounded like with the other members contributing, then 'The Concert In Central Park' helped do this for fans of the duo Simon & Garfunkel. The 2 ceased collaborating on albums after unleashing the masterpiece that was 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' in 1970. Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel shared the stage again on September 19, 1981 to perform a live concert in New York's Central Park. The set saw the duo revisit their combined and solo material. It was a shortlived reunion but others followed in subsequent decades. Simon is a gifted somgwriter who ought to be lauded as enthusiastically as Bruce Springsteen, Smokey Robinson and arguably Bob Dylan. There are exceptional moments, among them many solo Simon releases, but it's the classics recorded by the duo in the 1960s that remain unv=beatable. Highlight tracks: Bridge Over Troubled Water; The Boxer & The Sound Of Silence.
