GOOD MORNING TO THE NIGHT:
 ELTON JOHN Vs. PNAU
 Good Morning to the Night.jpeg
 [2012]
Elton John is adept at keeping his music current. He has frequently teamed up with rising new talent as well as revamping his vast catalogue. For 'Good Morning To The Night', he handed over tapes of his classic 70s period to Australian dance act Pnau. The duo remix and sample this rich source to recreate new songs. They avoid the trap of reworking the familiar and big hits. Putting the overall music first, Pnau frequently opt for the lesser known songs. It serves as an introduction for younger audiophiles to Elton's golden era. For the die-hard fans, it is fun seeing how snippets from songs such as "High Flying Bird", "Grey Seal", "Tonight", "Funeral For A Friend / Love Lies Bleeding" and "Curtains" are seamlessly interwoven. A brave and creative addition to John's discography.
Highlight tracks: Sad; Good Morning To The Night & Phoenix.
