-Whitney Houston is found dead.
-Adele wins 6 Grammy Awards.
-Davy Jones (The Monkees) dies.
-Adele dominates the singles & albums charts. 
-Madonna scores her 8th US #1 album.
-Adam Yauch (Beastie Boys) dies.
-Donna Summer dies.
-Robin Gibb (Bee Gees) dies.
-Snoop Dogg adopts the name Snoop Lion.

In 2012, the world discovered K-pop. The internet made a star of Psy whose "Gangnam Style" became a YouTube sensation, attracting 1 billion hits. The single topped charts around the planet. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis broke through internationally through refreshing new music as evidenced on "Thrift Shop" and the powerful "Same Love". The latter was adopted as an anthem for those fighting for marriage equality. Other new talent that found success includes Emeli Sandé, Fun and Carly Rae Jepsen. The world grieved the loss of Whitney Houston, whose untimely death shocked fans.
