SPACE ODDITY
David Bowie

America placed the first human onto the lunar surface in 1969. Just as Neil Armstrong stepped into history, “Space Oddity” was released and launched David Bowie. Drugs and Stanley Kubrick’s film ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’ inspired the creation of this classic track. The Bowie-penned composition was produced by Gus Dudgeon who would go on to work in the same role the following year on Elton John’s breakthrough smash “Your Song”. Bowie’s single reached #5 in Britain but was re-issued in 1975 and finally became his first UK chart topper.
