Irish singer / songwriter Gilbert O'Sullivan sent a demo to Gordon Mills, head of MAM Records. This led to the artist signing with the label. The latter produced the performer's 2 UK #1 singles "Clair" and "Get Down" as well as the American chart topper "Alone Again (Naturally)".
