In 1976, Billy Ocean broke through internationally with the disco hit "Love Really Hurts Without You". "Stop Me (If You Heard It All Before)" was his third Top 20 hit that same year in the UK from his self-titled debut album. The singer was born Leslie Sebastian Charles in Trinidad, moving to England at the age of ten.
