30 KEY SONGS BEHIND THE

TAYLOR SWIFT

PHENOMENOM

WILLOW

‘Folklore’ was the #1 album in America for 2020. Taylor Swift wasted no time on its follow-up, 'Evermore', releasing it five months later in December. This was her ninth studio album and the eighth consecutive release to top the US Album Chart. The disc, considered a sister album to ‘Folklore’, also topped the charts in Britain, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

The first single from ‘Evermore’ was “willow” (sic.). Like “Cardigan”, the song was penned by Swift with producer Aaron Dessner. The track became her seventh American #1 single. It was her third to debut at the top of Billboard Magazine’s Hot 100. “Willow” also reached the top in Canada and Australia. In the U.K., the song peaked at #3.

Swift made history with this release. She became the first act to debut at #1 simultaneously on the Singles and Albums charts twice (with "Cardigan" and 'Folkore' and "Willow" and 'Evermore').

Subsequent singles were “No Body, No Crime” and “Coney Island”, collaborations with rock groups Haim and The National respectively. The latter band includes Dessner in its line-up. The sibling discs kept Swift at #1 in the U.S.A. for a total 11 weeks.

In 2021, Swift showed no sign of slowing down. Likewise, her immense fan base proved that it possessed an insatiable desire for even more. The singer was to do something extraordinary that year…
