TAYLOR’S VERSION

It is worth noting that Taylor Swift’s re-recordings have proved immensely popular, prompting fans to purchase the new versions (with often subtle differences), but also that these have been released in such quick succession.

‘Fearless (Taylor’s Version)’ had been issued in July. Her re-recorded ‘Red’ album followed just four months later. Its sales even exceeded those of its predecessor. ‘Red (Taylor’s Version)’ reached #1 in America, Britain, Canada, Australia, some European nations and in New Zealand. 

The album included new interpretations of tracks from the original release, including the hit single "22". The re-recording was because Swift was eager to retain ownership of the songs in her back catalogue. While she has no legal claim to the original masters, her new versions remain her property.
