"Emotion" began as a French song entitled "Amoureuse" written and originally recorded by Véronique Sanson. Kiki Dee recorded an English version of the song which was a hit in 1973. Different English lyrics were then used for Australian Helen Reddy's interpretation. Her cover topped the Billboard Adult Contemporary Chart.
