CAFFE` LATTE`
TOP 1200 CHOICE TRACKS

#1065 RING MY BELL Anita Ward
Forever remembered as a one-hit wonder, this former school teacher scored a global #1 in 1979 with "Ring my Bell". Ward had almost given up on a musical career, but then she was introduced to producer/ songwriter Frederick Knight. He started off recording just 3 songs for her demo, but then decided to work on a full album. Towards the conclision of the sessions, Knight thought he needed just 1 final track to complete the LP. He remembered an older song he had written for Stacy Lattisaw. He altered the lyrics to suit the older Ward, and created one of the most enduring disco classics. Ward was less than enthusiastic about the song at the time but, as she confessed to me during an interview in 2012, she sure is glad she recorded it now!
