TOP 1200 CHOICE TRACKS

#781 EL CONDOR PASA (IF I COULD) Simon & Garfunkel
Paul Simon has cleverly drawn inspiration from a diverse range of musical sources; most famously on the 'Graceland' LP where he incorporated rhythms and musicians from South Africa. Years earlier, Simon adapted an 18th century folk song to form "El Condor Pasa".
Its original source was Peru, the melody created by Daniel Alomia Robles and adapted later by Jorge Milchberg. Simon penned the English lyrics. Los Incas perform the music on this track from the monumental best selling LP 'Bridge Over Troubled Water'. The song was released as a single in 1970, reaching #1 in many European countries and in Australia.
