The song "Torn" was originally recorded by the group Ednaswap. It had been penned by lead singer Anne Preven, guitarist Scott Cutler and their producer (and former member of The Cure) Phil Thornalley. While their version did not attract major sales, a remake by Australian actress/ singer Natalie Imbruglia was a global smash hit in 1997 and in the US the following year. Thornalley was the producer on her cover version. The Sydney-born actress had by this time left the Australian TV soap "Neighbours" and was concentrating on her musical aspirations.
