CHEAP THRILLS
BIG BROTHER &
THE HOLDING COMPANY
 (1968)
In this day of streaming music and buying recorded music on compact disc, the artistry of an album cover has been lost. It can be difficult to comprehend that feeling of holding a vinyl album, with its tangible beauty. There was the front focal point, often with inside images as well as lyrics spread out to the back cover. Big Brother & The Holding Company's 'Cheap Thrills' album must have enthralled record buyers upon its release in 1968. American cartoonist Robert Crumb created the illustrations adorning the cover of this album. The colourful depictions make this an eye-catching piece of work.
