but you may not know about the earlier attempts to score a hit record with
prior versions of the same song.
Valerie
In-demand producer Mark Ronson's 2nd studio album 'Version' included the track "Valerie". It was a collaboration with Amy Winehouse. In 2007, the track was lifted as a single. It peaked at #2 in the UK. Following Winehouse's death in 2011, the disc was re-issued and returned to the charts.
The original version of "Valerie" was recorded by The Zutons. Written by the members of the British indie group, it dented the European charts and reached #9 in the UK. This version was released a year prior to the Ronson- Winehouse remake.
