These songs are well known but you may not know about the earlier attempts to score a hit record with prior versions of the same song.

The Way Of Love

Cher delivered a powerful vocal on "The Way Of Love" The mighty number was a hit single for the multi-faceted legend in 1972. Her solo career was gaining steam and the ballad was a Top 10 hit in the USA and Canada.

The song began as a French contender for the Eurovision Song Contest. It failed to be selected as 1960's entry from France. New English lyrics were written for Kathy Kirby's remake 5 years later. Curiously, it flopped in Britain but reached #88 in America.
