These songs are well known but you may not know about the earlier attempts to score a hit record with prior versions of the same song.

Superstar

 

British R&B performer Jamelia released "Superstar" in 2003. The single was a major hit across Europe and peaked at #3 in Britain. It topped the charts in Australia and New Zealand. 

The original version of "Superstar" was released by Danish pop star Christine Milton. Her rendition was a hit in Scandinavia, reaching #1 in her country of origin.
