BOB DYLAN
1964
A black-and-white close-up of Dylan's face looking down
On his 3rd LP release 'The Times They are A- Changin'', Bob Dylan showed further progression. This was his first album consisting entirely of self-penned material.
The title track became a watershed anthem in a decade that was unsettling and volatile. Dylan was establishing himself as the leading commentator for a generation questioning the government, the war in Vietnam and other social issues.
While his vocals remain an acquired taste on the album, his lyrics are still pertinent to this day. The most noteworthy songs include the title track, "Boots Of Spanish Leather", "The Lonesome Death Of Hattie Carroll", "North Country Blues", "With God On Our Side", "When The Ship Comes In" and "Only A Pawn In Their Game".
