Of the albums issued over the last 3 decades, few have had the impact on music that 'Nevermind' sparked. Nirvana's 2nd studio album introduced the mainstream to grunge.
From the opening, "Smells Like Teen Spirit" announces the arrival of a landmark recording. Its anger and attitude summoned a new generation of listeners. As the album progresses, the quality is maintained.
Among its other finest moments are the tracks "Lithium", "On A Plain", "Come As You Are", "Territorial Pissings" and "In Bloom". Kurt Cobain wrote all of the tracks, most with contributions from his bandmates Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic. Credit must also be given to the considerable skill of producer Butch Vig.
With 'Nevermind', Nirvana injected renewed energy into rock music. Even its cover remains one of the most iconic and instantly recognizable in popular culture.
