Australia finally legalized same sex marriage after putting the population through an unnecessary and wasteful voting survey.
#MeToo and the Silence Breakers brought down media figures that included Harvey Weinstein, Matt Lauer and Kevin Spacey.
3AC/DC guitarist Malcolm Young. Ed Sheeran dominated the charts around the world. Latin pop and EDM made further inroads into the mainstream.
As “Game Of Thrones” headed towards its final season, ‘The Last Jedi’ premiered.

HEART OF GOLD
BQL
Slovenian duo BQL comsists of brothers Anej and Rok Piletic. They made the national finals, vying for the opportunity to represent Slovenia at Eurovision with "Heart Of Gold" which spent a month on top of the charts in the siblings' homeland. Although they won the public vote at the Slovenian final, the jury result saw BQL finish in second place.

PERFECT
Ed Sheeran
By the end of 2016, 3 versions of "Perfect" had charted internationally for Ed Sheeran. First was this original solo version, followed by duets with Beyoncé and Andrea Bocelli. The latter 2 versions were listed as "Perfect Duet" and "Perfect Symphony" respectively. "Perfect" topped the charts in Britain, Europe, the Philippines, Malaysia and Australia.

AIN'T GONNA DIE TONIGHT
Macklemore ftg. Eric Nally
Eric Nally reunited with Macklemore on "I Ain't Gonna Die Tonight" from the latter's solo album 'Gemini'. Nally had contributed vocals on Caffé Latté's #1 song of 2015 "Downtown" by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.

Paloma Faith
The release of 'The Architect' ended the 3 year gap between Paloma Faith albums. "Crybaby" was its lead single.

HAVANA
Camila Cabello ftg. Young Thug
Camila Cabello was born in Cuba. Her family moved to Florida when she was aged 6. Cabello was a founding member of Fifth Harmony. In December 2016, she announced her exit from the girl group. Solo single "Havana" features guest rapper Young Thug. The song peaked at #2 in the US and reached #1 in Britain, Europe, Canada, Australia and Israel.
