Macron won the French election. Trump was inaugurated. Teresa May lost her majority in an unnecessary British election. Robert Mugabe lost his long-held power in Zimbabwe.
Australia finally legalized same sex marriage after putting the population through an unnecessary and wasteful voting survey.
#MeToo and the Silence Breakers brought down media figures that included Harvey Weinstein, Matt Lauer and Kevin Spacey.
3AC/DC guitarist Malcolm Young. Ed Sheeran dominated the charts around the world. Latin pop and EDM made further inroads into the mainstream.
As “Game Of Thrones” headed towards its final season, ‘The Last Jedi’ premiered.

Portugal. The Man
Portugal. The Man formed in 2003 in Alaska. Its founding members later relocated to Oregon. "Feel It Still" samples The Marvelettes' Motown hit "Please Mr. Postman". The song is on the group's 'Woodstock' album. It made the Top 10 in America, Europe, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Interestingly, the single peaked at #8 in Portugal.

Jamiroquai
During 2017 Toby Smith, a former keyboard player in Jamiroquai, passed away following a long battle with cancer. He quit the band in 2002. Jamiroquai released a new album entitled 'Automaton' which featured the single "Superfresh".

Louis Tomlinson 
ftg. Bebe Rexha & Digital Farm Animals
One Direction's Louis Tomlinson issued his sophomore solo single "Back To You" in 2017. It features American singer / songwriter Bebe Rexha and British DJ / producer Nicholas Gale (better known as Digital Farm Animals). The song went Top 10 in the UK, Malaysia and parts of Europe.
