These songs are well known but you may not know about the
earlier attempts to score a hit record with prior versions of the same song.
All Along The Watchtower
Preceding the release of the 'Electric Ladyland' album in 1968, The Jimi Hendrix Experience unleashed the single "All Along The Watchtower". At the time, the legendary guitarist was sizzling on stage. The single made the UK Top 5 and peaked at #20 in America.
Bob Dylan penned the song, recording the original version which was included on his 'John Wesley Harding' album. That LP came out a few months before the remake by Hendrix and his band.
