One of Talking Heads' best known songs is "Take Me To The River". Released in 1978 to promote the 'More Songs About Buildings And Food' album, the American new wave band charted in many countries with the track.
The group's version is so well known that many may reasonably assume that it was an original. In fact, Talking Heads re-invented the song. The original was recorded by its co-writer, Al Green. In 1974, the song was included on the R&B singer's album 'Al Green Explores Your Mind'.
