EUROVISION 2019: THE DOZEN TO WATCH (Part 2). Concludes  tomorrow.
EUROVISION SONG CONTEST 2019
THE DOZEN TO WATCH

The Eurovision Song Contest begins in Tel Aviv on May 14.
Here are 12 entries that are the ones to watch closely from this year’s crop of songs:

VIII
SPIRIT IN THE SKY (NORWAY)
This song has sounded like a winner from day one and still retains one’s attention. It is accessible and extremely catchy. The Sami features add energy to the upbeat track. Norway is one of the dark horses in this year’s race and “Spirit In The Sky” could give that country its fourth Eurovision victory.
VII
HATRIO MUN SIGRA (ICELAND)
Iceland’s entry is definitely this year's most divisive song. Some viewers will hate it instantly. Others will applaud its daring and novelty value. One thing is indisputable: there has never been a stage presentation as shocking. Will this song finally give Iceland its long awaited first win?
VI
SCREAM (RUSSIA)
The fact that Russia is currently one of the favourites to win in 2019 is pure logic. “Scream” has much in its favour. Sergey Lazarev wowed the audience back in 2016. He has a powerful vocal and an abundance of charisma. If his previous appearance with “You Are The Only One” is anything to go by, rest assured that Russia will have another breathtaking stage presentation in store for us. Many former Soviet Union territories will support the song. The question is whether the other countries will put politics aside at voting time. If Russia secures a second Eurovision hosting gig, will patrons want to attend in a country that has a poor record on human rights and attitudes towards members of the LGBTI community?
V
ARCADE (NETHERLANDS)
For some weeks now, “Arcade” has been unchallenged as the leading favourite to win. Its chance of success will depend on how well it is delivered on the Eurovision stage. This is a strong track, but could be overtaken by some others once the Semi-Finals commence.
