After quitting the group Them in the mid-1960s, Van Morrison intended to have nothing to do with music. He was persuaded by producer Bert Berns to record again, this time as a soloist. His first solo release was 'Blowin' Your Mind!'. That album contained what has since become Morrison's signature song: "Brown Eyed Girl".
