In 2023, Sweden won the Eurovision Song Contest for a record-equalling seventh time (shared with Ireland). It is hard to argue that any other ESC participant country takes the annual event as seriously as the Swedes do. Their national selections – Melodifestivalen- is held over many weeks and usually features several strong contenders. The final rivals the actual Eurovision Final in its professionalism and entertainment.

Sweden finished strong in the first years of this century at
Eurovision. This entry was the seventh year in-a-row that a Swedish song
claimed a spot in the Grand Final Top 10. "It Hurts" ended the Contest in fifth place.
