EUROVISION 2024

THE 37 SONGS

(in order of preference)

The number of competitors for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest has remained the same with Romania withdrawing and Luxembourg returning after an absence of 31 years. This year, the ESC will be held in host city Malmö, Sweden in May following that country’s seventh win in 2023. Caffè Lattè has ranked all of the 37 entries in terms of sonic quality, as it does annually. The higher the ranking, the better the song.

This year, all of the 37 entries have redeeming qualities. Unusually, there is no major standout, but none of the songs for the 2024 Contest are woeful. Therefore, even the songs at the bottom are not there because of low appeal, but because the ones ranked higher are slightly superior.

*Note that a live performance and the on-stage presentation may alter the overall impact of a song once the Semi-Finals begin.

PEDESTAL

Aiko

Czechia

This empowering song may increase its chances of a high finish during Semi-Final 2. It certainly deserves to qualify for the Grand Final. Aiko is from Czechia and now based in the UK.

LOOP

Sarah Bonnici

Malta

Much will depend on the performance presented by Sarah Bonnici as the first entry heard in Semi- Final 2. The song may sound too similar to recent ESC entries, but it is more modern and its beat should help it qualify. Bonnici contributed to the song’s composition.

SAND

Saba

Denmark

Flying the flag proudly for inclusion this year is SABA. She is the first brown gay woman to represent Denmark. “Sand” is a strong entry and deserves to progress into the Grand Final from the second semi-final.

This year’s Ukrainian entry brings together two popular celebrities in the Ukraine. The song has remained among the strong contenders in this year’s betting. It is one of the likeliest entries to qualify for the Grand Final.

The Israeli entry will be heard towards the end of Semi-Final 2. Eden Golan will sing in English and Hebrew. It will be interesting to see if the conflict in Gaza will help or hinder “Hurricane”.
