Bill Haley & His Comets

When originally released in 1954, this seminal rock track did little to disturb the charts. The following year, it was featured in the film ‘The Blackboard Jungle’. In this new context, the public embraced it with a frenzy. Cinema audiences went crazy and this resulted in Haley’s remake to bounce back and this time, climb all the way to #1 in America, Britain and Australia. This marked the first rock ‘n’ roll disc to top the charts and marked the dawn of the Rock Era.
