#682 OH BOY Diana Trask
Diana Trask was born in Warburton, not far from Melbourne, Australia. Growing up in a musical family proved an asset and by age 16, the singer had won an Australia-wide talent competition. She worked on television before joining a group that impressed Sammy Davis Jr enough for him to suggest Trask try her luck in America. So, in 1959, the young performer moved Stateside. After some time, Trask found some work on TV and was signed by Columbia. She released some pop albums before deciding to concentrate on country music. 1968 saw her enter the country charts and she continued scoring moderate chart singles.
Back home in Australia, Trask enjoyed only 1 hit single during the 1970s. This was her country flavoured ballad "Oh Boy". The song was penned by Tony Romeo, who had already written a massive hit for The Partridge Family, "I Think I Love You". Trask peaked at #10 in her homeland with "Oh Boy". She still performs live to this day.
