Lobo was songwriter Roland Kent LaVoie, born in 1943. The US performer began in varoius groups before launching his solo career in 1969. Lobo's 1st major hit was "Me and You and a Dog Named Boo" in 1971. His biggest hit was released the following year: "I'd Love You To Want Me". It was lifted off his 1972 'Of A Simple Man' LP. The single peaked at #5 in the UK, #2 in the USA and #1 in Australia. Lobo penned the ballad and Phil Gernhard produced the recording. He continued recording new material until the 1990s.
