#651 PRIDE AND JOY (Alternative Take) Marvin Gaye
Marvin Gaye recorded "Pride and Joy" for his 1963 album 'That Stubborn Kinda' Fellow'. The version that makes this Top 1200 is an alternative take with a thrilling tenor sax solo. The recording was included in the 'Marvin Gaye Collection' box set., issued in 1990. Martha Reeves and The Vandellas compliment the recording with their background vocals. Gaye co-wrote the song with Motown writer/ producers Norman Whitfield and William Stevenson. The latter also handled production.
