CAFFE` LATTE`
TOP 1500 CHOICE TRACKS

#271 KILLER QUEEN Queen
The song "Killer Queen" was a turning point in the fortunes of rock group Queen. Firstly, it allowed its writer-  lead singer Freddie Mercury- to fully showcase his camp side. This was to be a key feature on the band's songs including "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Somebody to Love", "We Are the Champions" and "It's A Hard Life". Secondly, "Killer Queen" was the global breakthrough hit Queen needed. Suddenly, the world took notice.
The band co-produced the track with Roy Thomas Baker. It also features effective harmonies from the members and Brian May's skilful guitar work, particularly in mimicking the sound of a cat during 1 of its verses. "Killer Queen" was included on the group's 3rd album 'Sheer Heart Attack'. Issued as a single in 1974, the disc peaked at #2 in Britain. In the USA, the single reached #12. The following year, Queen dropped their landmark "Bohemian Rhapsody" and the group's place in rock history was assured.

This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
2 new instalments are added each day (every 12 hours) with 1 of the remaining 300 songs as well as moving down from #1201 to 1500, with 5 of those songs added daily.
